Antique Edwardian to 1920s brown, gray and silver ostrich feather large ladie's hand fan. This style of fan became quite popular during the Edwardian period of the early 1900s. These types of fans were still in use into the 1920s though so it may be from a bit later as well. The fan is 21 wide when open and consists of 18 silver painted lightweight wooden sticks with a guard on either side. The sticks are held together at the bottom by white mother of pearl rivets and a metal loop with an antique gray silk ribbon hanging from it.
Fluffy ostrich plumes in shades of gray, brown and white are attached to the ribs of the fan. In very good overall condition but the feathers are delicate. I wouldn't recommend vigorously waving the fan but the feathers are all intact.
When closed the fan is 13" long by 5.5" wide (at the top). When open the fan is 21 wide including the feathers.
Due to the fan's delicate nature this item will be packaged carefully in a box.
