Antique Victorian Parian Ware Pottery Hand Spill Vase 7-3/4 LILY OF THE VALLEY
19th Century Antique Pottery Parian Ware Porcelain Figurine Victorian Right Hand Spill Vase 7-3/4 LILY OF THE VALLEY. Beautiful and rare 19th century Parian Ware of a right hand holding a spill vase draped with lily of the valley flowers.

Since this hand vase is unmarked it is unknown if it is English or American made. Bennington made parian vases with the lily of the valley pattern but we have not seen one with a hand referenced in one of our books.

Condition: In good preowned condition with repairs. This vase once broken and parts of it near the upper half of the vase were glued back together and repainted in some areas. Even though this vase has visible repairs and glue residue it is beautiful and displays very nicely. Porcelain may have small random black cinder specks which are natural flaws from the making. These cinders are internalized into the parian porcelain which were caused from the early kilns that burned wood or coal and often threw-off cinders during the firing in the oven-kilns.

This characteristic is often considered when authenticating age since the later kilns were fired with gas or electricity and were cleaner. If there are any other minor flaws, they are also natural from the making. Vase may need some light cleaning but we will preserve as is to prevent any damage. Approximate measurements: 7-3/4" tall, 2-3/4" base diameter. Parian ware is a type of biscuit porcelain that was made to imitate carved marble.

It was also contemporaneously referred to as Statuary Porcelain by Copeland. Please view all pictures and they are the main part of the description. Merchandise values cannot be marked below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.
