1890's silk bodice and skirt set. Front of bodice has multicolored floral devore velvet fabric. Black ottoman leg of mutton sleeves. Three ornate hand painted button closures at cuff.

Feather detail across back of bodice. Black satin ribbon detail along front of bodice and at center back of collar.

Hook and eye and snap closure at center front. Hook and eye closures at center back of waistband. Oral provenance states the original owner of bodice was Louise Lawrence Van Dyke (1854 - 1937), wife of prominent Milwaukee attorney and banker George Douglas Van Dyke (1853 - 1949). Please note this item was photographed with an under-bustle which in NOT included in the sale. Unmarked Marked Fabric: Bodice: "Shell: Silk, Lining: Silk / Cotton blend", Skirt "Shell: Silk / Cotton blend, Lining: Cotton".

Shoulder: 13 (seam to seam). Sleeve: 22 (shoulder seam to cuff). Chest: 29 (armpit to armpit). Total Length: 17.5 (measured center front to hem, including collar).

Total Length: 39'' (measured on side). Excellent / Wear consistent with age and use. Wear to edge of fabric at cuffs and bottom edge of bodice.
