Vintage Serving Tray Silver Plated Pierced Hand Etched Gallery Tray Persian
This is for a very unusual large footed Silver Plated handled tray. The piece has no makers marks on it for me to give a maker or date. 20 inches long x 15.75 inches wide x 4 inches to top of the handles. I would believe it to be from the early 1900's due to the style of craftsmanship.
The intricate pattern would have taken countless hours to create, please zoom in on the pictures to see the hand work involved. It would have been hand crafted as the patterns that are etched are not all mirrored and precise in the sizes of the designs.The edges also are pierced with holes that are obviously hand done as the sizes vary and even the amount of metal removed varies. The shape is in wonderful condition with no dents or dings.
Being as old as the piece is there are minor issues that can be seen in pictures where the silver plate is missing (there is a pen pointed at the issues). There are also circle rings from drinks in the center and edge, where perhaps wet items were left for a period of time. Silver plated items need to be kept dry and not left with water on them for any long period of time or will cause damage. Obviously once items are placed on top it will be less noticeable!
I see this lovely piece used to hold an ornate tea set, set on a coffee table to place candle holders on or perhaps on a dressing table for special perfume bottles and old brushes, it has so many wonderful diverse uses! I may or may not know details but do spend time researching information to provide details the best I can and to pass along fair prices. I take all my own pictures in my home and as such try and get all the colors as true to correct as possible.
