19TH C LARGE SILK SHAWL W CHINESE CANTON HAND EMBROIDERED FLORAL DETAIL. DATING TO THE MID 19TH CENTURY. FASHIONED OF THIN IVORY SILK WITH HAND EMBROIDERED FLORAL DETAIL ON ONE CORNER ONLY WITH THE REMAINDER OF THE SHAWL PLAIN. TRIMMED ALONG THE EDGES IN HAND KNOTTED, VERY THIN FINE SILK FRINGE. THERE IS SOME LIGHT YELLOW STAINING IN THE VERY CENTER THAT IS THE SIZE OF TWO HAND PRINTS WITH AN ADDITIONAL FIST AREA OF YELLOW STAINING, JUST ASIDE TOWARD ONE CORNER.

THERE ARE SIX PINHEAD DARKER POINT STAINS AND THE SILK FRINGE IS HEAVILY TANGLED AND NEEDS TO BE COMBED OUT AND PRESSED. MEASUREMENTS IN INCHES: 63 SQUARE.
