Antique Cushion Paste Stones set in Solid Sterling Silver Rolled In Gold Brooch

This is a magnificent antique Georgian/Victorian era brooch. It features hand cut paste stones set in solid sterling silver and rolled gold 9 -12k. This piece acid tests positive for both silver and gold. There are 9 cushion cut hand cut paste stones that each sit in dished settings.

This allows the stones to sit securely as the stones' brilliance is enhanced. Pictures do not do this piece justice. The sparkle these stones give off is mesmerizing. The back is all enclosed with a tube hinge and C shaped clasp closure.

The center stone is approximately 5 carats with each surrounding stone at 2.5 carats. Weight is 16 grams and measures 1.5 across. The condition is excellent for its age.

Paste jewelry was popular with both the lower and the aristocracy, classes. Pieces like this brooch are now highly collectible and prized for their craftsmanship and historical significance. I have seen a few similar pins, but none all cushion cut and in this amazing condition.
