FRENCH VICTORIAN NAPOLEON III PIERCED CARVED GILT MOTHER OF PEARL FAN in its original box. Collectible French 19th century fan with mother-of-pearl guards and sticks, sporting gilded decoration and pierced motifs. The leaf is printed and colored, with hand painted details. French royal family in the palace scenes hand-painted on both sides, with gold gilt all the over. The spectacular mother of pearl guard was carved and pierced and also with gold gilt all the over.
The thread on the box is slight torn. It is one of kind, hard to find. A master piece like this rarely appears on the market. Maximum dimensions are taken including handles, finials, etc. 19 inches/48cm (width) when opened.
Very good and solid condition, with the logical signs of use, some small torn on the paper due to old age. This fan was kept very well. Its truly amazing that it survived two WW wars with no damages. There are no broken sticks or guards.
