This incredible Antique victorian pug figurine shows how the pug breed looked 130 years ago, This is a perfect representation of how pugs appeared at the turn of the last century. Similar representations of pugs from that era can be seen in rare photographs, and the occasional painting. Pugs back then had a slightly longer snout, Wrinkles were not as deep and the body was slightly taller and leaner. This genuine victorian pug figurine is incredibly rare, and is in incredible condition for it's age. It has all original paint, and shows very little rub off (See photos) compared to other examples I have found, and has not been bleached by the sun.
I have been told that this design was likely produced in Germany, and is called Bisque fired, or Bisque. This pug is just over 4-1/2 inches high, 3-3/4ths inches wide, and has the marking 4755 on his rump.
