Antique Victorian Black Silk Scarf Shawl Piano Wrap Embroidered Hand Knotted

Vintage victorian scarf, shawl or wrap. It is made of Silk with a lovely highly detailed and skilled embroidered pattern of water fountains. There are 4 fountains, 1 in each corner and another 4 between each of the corner ones. They are all spurting water to make a really cool star pattern in the center of the shawl. Extremely unique and high quality design, it even has detailed water droplets from the fountains!

The background is black silk and the embroidered pattern is done in gold, silver and purple. Around the entire outside is a hand knotted fringe in a diamond or french knot pattern at the top of the fringe.

Two sides of the fringe are black and the other two are gold. The attention to detail is very apparent in this piece.

It measures 31" Square without the fringe and the fringe adds another 4" all around. Some of these types of shawls were made in Canton, China and imported in.

Wonderful piece probably circa 1800's, can be used as a piano shawl, shawl or scarf for the shoulders, or even draped over furniture to display such a lovely piece! CONDITION: This scarf is in very good condition! There is a small slight tear to the the black silk top layer near the center.

There are also a few slight snags or loose strings, which could be weaved back in to the embroidery pattern, which are very minor and not easily noticed. I have more items listed, including more vintage scarves, so please check out my other items.
