It is set in a yellow gold setting which tests 10 k - 11 k gold. It depicts a country scene with a male and a female pheasant. The painting is on porcelain.
It is detailed and well done with layers of paint and distinct brush strokes. It looks like an early unsigned Minton from 1880's. There is a tiny scratch on the right side just above the brooch setting, see photos. It is sure to become a cherished family heirloom you will enjoy for years to come.
