Each button features a hand-painted floral motif with raised enamel and gilt detailing on an ivory-toned glazed earthenware base. The design shows clear Japanese Satsuma-style influence, a popular aesthetic for decorative garment buttons at the turn of the 20th century. The backs have integral ceramic shanks with visible, honest wear from original use. Fine age-related glaze crazing is present throughout, consistent with earthenware of this period.
