ANTIQUE, MID-VICTORIAN, 19TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY AS EARLY AS 1770s - A "KNEE BUCKLE" - PLEASE REFER TO "V & A" WEBSITE TO SEE ALMOST EXACTLY SIMILAR PASTE KNEE BUCKLES ON DISPLAY THERE. HAND-CUT, HAND-FACETED "BLACK DOT" CLEAR PASTE CRYSTAL / AKA FAUX DIAMONDS, LARGE BUCKLE IN SILVER COLOR. I have seen similar in Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The PASTE is called "GLASS DIAMONDS SIMULANTS" by "V & A" -- and this is the true antique rarity.
The metal is most likely silver, as silver was extremely popular choice of metal, even for the real diamonds, as it made the stones look more white and show more sparkle! This show-stopping antique buckle is in excellent condition. It has a very sophisticated, rich & elegant appearance! My pictures are enlarged to show quality, condition and details. This buckle is about 2.5 in length. I encourage you to review every photo provided, since my pictures are. Y display boxes are not for sale. Please Note: - The Items I List are Antique, Vintage or Old, (they are NOT Brand-New Antiques). They have been used and show signs of use commensurate with age. See pictures as they form part of the description and to satisfy yourself to the condition. Thank you very much for browsing my collection. Please find me on-line as "Alex Karenin Estate Jewelry"!
