The painting is vibrant well done and in excellent condition. It is an original hand painted portrait. The subject of the portrait is commonly identified as Madame Reclaimer Jeanne Francoise, Julie Adelaide Recamier, an early 19th century French Socialite who was well-known in literary and political circles, see in Wikipedia.

2 1/4" x 2", weigh approx. It has a heavy ornate carved golden aged brass mounting.
