Rare antique genuine bloodstone ring in glowing hand etched rose gold, gorgeous! This is so striking with the juxtaposition of the dark mysterious bloodstone against the carved scrolling Victorian setting made of 14K rose gold! In the center is a genuine deep emerald cut bloodstone, of nice quality measuring 7 mm N to S x 10 mm E to W.
When worn the top of the setting is elevated 3.25 mm from the finger and is quite comfortable to wear due to it's low profile. Made entirely by hand (faint seams visible inside of band where it connects to the portion that holds the stone), the ring is unmarked as was common prior to the turn of the century but tests for and is guaranteed 14K gold. Ring weighs a sturdy 4.2 grams. Bloodstones were believed to be a magical stone in ancient times.
Ancient warriors carried bloodstone amulets for healing and in the middle ages, Babylonians used engraved bloodstone in their divination. Together with the ancient Egyptians, they used the stone to defeat magically their enemies. They employed the stone's abilities by increasing personal strength. This is also known as the Mother Goddess stone.
The setting is in good antique condition. The bloodstone is in excellent condition, without chips or cracks and with great color! A rare and unusual antique piece!
