There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. A fantastic looking and well made piece, this chair is a tour de force of craftmanship, clearly a Show Frame made for exhibition, these types of furniture were made to be exhibited to show off how proficient the craftsman was. The chair has been fully restored to include having the joints checked and sealed, its then been rebuilt with minor repairs to the carving and renewed base padding, the seat has been finished with a piece of vintage plain natural fully aniline leather which has been antiqued brass studded in place using traditional methods, the leather has then been hand dyed this wonder cigar brown colour. The timber has been washed back and sympathetically French polished from top to bottom, this chair is the finest example of its type in the world, you can see a similar example but with sea horse in the Victorian and Albert Museum here.
Any connoisseur of fine furniture will know exactly what this chair is as soon as they see it, its a real statement to have in ones home and considered a piece of art in its own right. Think of it as the Rembrandt of armchairs! Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask.
