RARE Antique 1860's Hand Carved Victorian Agate Scottish Kilt Tartan Pin Brooch
This is a rare antique Victorian 1860's Hand Carved Agate Scottish Kilt Tartan Brooch Pin. It is said that Queen Victorian gave her brooch to a soldier who was having difficulty keeping his kilt closed. It then became a way for people to also display their wealth.

This is a beautiful brooch that measures approximately 1 3/8 in diameter. It has a C clasp on the back. The pin back looks to be a gold or brass tone, but the color has changed over the years so it is hard to tell.

There is a silver tone wire that goes through the center of the agate circle and holds the bar shaped piece of agate into place. I do not see any chips or cracks in the stone. This is a stunning collectible tartan brooch from the 19th century!

Most things are from my own collection. I'm not an expert by any means. I will try to give you accurate information and take good pictures of the items.

Also, because a lot of my items are from estate sales I won't always know if they are from a "smoking" or "non-smoking" home, or whether they have pets or not. I do not always get to clean the jewelry, although I try. If any item has a flaw I will do my best to point it out in the description and pictures.

If I miss something or if you have any questions please let me know. Any props I use in pictures or coins for sizing are not included in the sale.

Also, I use a 15 necklace display, so that gives you an idea about size. I started to collect jewelry because I love it, love looking for unique pieces, it's fun to wear, doesn't have to cost a lot and it doesn't take up a lot of room! There is always something different to find!
