Rare, Unusual Antique "NATURAL GROWTH" Cane/Walking Stick, With Nice Hand Carved Folk Art Handle, Dapper Victorian, c. Very nice, great looking antique wooden cane with fancy hand carved "folk art" NUT/BOLT DESIGN HANDLE.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL ANTIQUE CANES OF THIS TYPE THAT I HAVE SEEN. Has what appears to be a 6-sided carved hex head bolt in the top that a mechanic would work on. Possibly a retired mechanic's cane? Shaft is a very nice "NATURAL GROWTH". It was made of a particular type of sapling, with the side branches evenly trimmed off as shown. I have never seen one quite like this before. Was it a special type, e. Head, or top, is very fancy, as described. Appears to have been carved out of ivory, making it quite scarce. It is hard to tell if there was anything else on the end of it. I always liked it this way, but something could be glued on or added if desired. I have never seen anything like this one. This came from a large New England antique cane collection.

Hand carved, possibly made by the owner, a mechanic as indicated, or a local master wood carver. Measures 35 from one end to the other. Just as originally made so many years ago.

In very good condition overall. It will be a great decorator, or a great addition to an antique cane or walking stick collection. COULD ALSO STILL BE USED, AND PROVIDES A GREAT, STYLISH, DAPPER, VICTORIAN LOOK!! White top against the dark brown is nice, and of course the "natural growth" shaft is really nice looking.

Would make a great, prized, unusual gift. A very nice, very unusual cane, both the carved top as well as the "NATURAL GROWTH" shaft. Great patina on the bone handle as well as on the shaft. I don't think you will find another like this one.
