A Victorian period paper or "papier mache" tray is hand painted over black lacquer with gold leaf detailing, and has been given a protective coat of varnish. The artistry is beautiful on this antique. Dating from about 1860, there are losses, shrinkage separations from age and wear. The separate custom crafted wooden base from about 1950 makes this functional as a coffee table. Size is 32" long, 26" wide and 19 1/2 tall. Please view 18 photos at full screen size for best detail.
