FYI: because I collect all items bearing the likeness of this particular brooch, I know exactly who she is, & I wanted to pass along to you her name!

She is QUEEN LOUISE OF PRUSSIA, & she is always shown wearing a long flowing white scarf around her neck! Because she was such a popular & well-loved queen among her subjects, all of the women followed her example, & they too began wearing long flowing white scarves around their necks as well!

However, what all of these women did not know was the secret behind Queen Louise's real reason for wearing a long flowing white scarf around her neck. The answer to that question follows: Queen Louise of Prussia was wearing a long flowing white scarf around her neck because she was hiding a great big goiter on her neck! Queen Louise was definitely a young & beautiful Queen! She was very smart & clever, & she was also the strong-willed wife of King Frederick William III, whom Napoleon memorably described HER as being: the only man in Prussia! Because Queen Louise was so smart & clever, as well as being very beautiful & an extremely shrewd politician, King Frederick sent her to negotiate with Napoleon! In fact, she was so extremely effective, that King Frederick sent her again to meet with Napoleon to plead for favorable terms for her country during the Treaties of Tilsit of 1807! Napoleon also termed Queen Louise as "my beautiful enemy" for her role in forming an alliance! Napoleon eventually gained the upper hand over his enemies in battle. Thus, in 1807, both Queen Louise & King Frederick were forced to meet with Napoleon in person at Tilsit in Russia to sign a peace treaty. Queen Louise of Prussia was, indeed, a very wonderful Queen-she was admired by all of her subjects, & dearly loved by her husband King Frederick.

She bore him 9 children, but most unfortunately, she died of pneumonia at the young age of only 34, plunging her country into deep mourning. Queen Louise of Prussia was absolutely wonderful!!!!
