This comb is absolutely incredible. I believe it is of German origin. Each panel is completely hand carved from bone.
The scene is so very intricate, you kind of get lost looking at it. I have no idea who could have such a study hand to get the details that this comb presents. The comb is made of 5 panels. They are connected to one another with a concealed pin. Please zoom in on the photographs to see the amazing detail....Each panned is fitted with a prong stick that is wired to the bone. I decided not to test the metal for fragility of the carvings. Don't get me wrong this can be worn today, but the upmost care should be taken.
The condition for its age is wonderful, there are a very few compromised bits but nothing major. Measurements: Length: 6 & 7/8 inches Circa: mid 1800s Weight: 29 grams. Of course I honor this policy. Please message me first and I will do my best to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.
